GIARDIA GUARDIA MAX* ADJUNCTIVE GIARDIA GASTROINTESTINAL SUPPORT* for Dogs and Cats

Giardiasis is a diarrheal disease caused by the microscopic parasite Giardia. Once an animal has been infected, it serves as a host to the parasite, which embeds in the intestines and is passed in feces. Giardia organisms travel into the intestines, often causing a serious and sometimes life-threatening form of diarrhea, including watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, bloating, nausea and fever. Once shed outside the body, Giardia cysts can sometimes survive for weeks or months.

Giardia infestation can cause a loss of fluids within the body, which can lead to dehydration, pH acid-base imbalance or electrolyte interference. If diarrhea is accompanied by vomiting, fever and a refusal to drink water, consult your vet immediately.

Contamination can occur both directly or indirectly, and common ways in which Giardia is contracted include ingesting cysts that are shed in another animal's stools, drinking water or ice from water sources containing Giardia (i.e. untreated or improperly treated water from lakes, streams, ponds, springs, rivers, or wells and stagnant water); eating uncooked food that contain Giardia organisms or contact with another infected animal or person.

The plants that comprise GIARDIA GUARDIA MAX* ADJUNCTIVE GIARDIA GASTROINTESTINAL SUPPORT* have been used holistically in South American traditional medicine, including global use in numerous traditional, herbal, medical societies, for the adjunctive treatment of Giardia, persistent diarrhea and dysentery, for gastroenteritis, intestinal and parasitic worms and amebic infections, for idiopathic gastric disorders, for uncontrolled discharges including watery, loose stools, for hemorrhages, for vomiting, as an astringent and drying agent for loose stools, and for edema.

GIARDIA GUARDIA MAX* may be used as a holistic adjunctive to potentially help reduce common symptoms of Giardia infection, including acute and chronic diarrhea, for all types of dysentery (including amebic and bacterial); for gas and flatulence, greasy or watery stools, stomach or abdominal cramps, upset stomach and nausea, dehydration, loss of appetite, vomiting, weakness and lethargy, fever, for colitis, to help reduce excessive defecation throughout day, and for straining after defecating,

In several South American countries, the plant bark in GIARDIA GUARDIA MAX* is referred to as dysentery bark. Interestingly, it is also studied for its significant enzyme processes which inhibit bacteria and pathogens from replicating, and due to its keratinocyte activity, may also to help lubricate tissues that have been damaged by dehydration, diarrhea, and other conditions that cause skin and tissues, both internal and external, to become irritated, to bleed or which have become excessively dry.

Some of the naturally occurring plant actions of GIARDIA GUARDIA MAX*  include anti-diarrheal, anti-dysenteric, antioxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-yeast, anti-parasitic, anti-Candida, anti-viral, anti-amebic, amebicide, anti-spasmodic, anti-microbial against numerous strains of bacteria, viruses, fungi and yeast; as an analgesic, digestive, smooth muscle protector, anti-inflammatory, immuno-stimulant, blood cleanser, antimalarial, hemostatic, insecticide (while being safe for pets), anti-ulcerous, cardio-depressant, cardiotonic (tones, balances, strengthens the heart), central nervous system depressant, cough suppressant, gastro-tonic (tones, balances, strengthens the gastric tract), hypotensive (lowers blood pressure), sedative, vasoconstrictor, and whole body tonic (tones, balances, strengthens all body systems.)

GIARDIA GUARDIA MAX* has been studied for its many plant actions to help promote proper intestinal smooth muscle function and may help inhibit excessive bowel contractions due to its quercetin content, which may help "tranquilize" improper gastrointestinal function by helping reduce spasms and delivering high-level analgesic, pain relieving effects related to chronic and acute diarrhea. This mechanism of plant action is likely due to a studied, locomotor activity which has direct actions to help relieve pain in the Central Nervous System, accentuating the anti-spasmodic and analgesic actions related to gastrointestinal distress common to acute and chronic diarrhea.

GIARDIA GUARDIA MAX* may also help inhibit the gastrointestinal chemical processes found in acute diarrhea and aid in the re-absorption of water in the intestines, both critical actions when Giardia is present, possibly helping reduce diarrhea while maintaining electrolyte and pH balance in the blood.

The plant constituents of GIARDIA GUARDIA MAX* have been studied for their toxic yet safe actions against many diarrhea-causing bacteria, including Staphylococcus, Shigella, Salmonella, Bacillus, E. coli, Giardia, Streptococcus, Clostridium, Entamoeba histolytica, Pseudomonas and Neisseria gonorrhea.

Other important plant actions of  GIARDIA GUARDIA MAX* is related to its lectin,  content, which may help restrict pathogenic adhesion to the intestinal wall, possibly help prevent infection and resulting diarrhea related to common diarrhea-causing organisms like E-coli and Giardia cysts.

GIARDIA GUARDIA MAX* also has a broad nutritional panel, containing tannins, phenols, triterpenes, flavonoids, especially quercetin, quassinoids, steroids, proanthocyanidins, kaurenoic acids, catechins, sulfur compounds, essential oils, saponins, carotenoids, lectins, vitamins C and A, dietary fiber, fatty acids.
