JERGON SACHA is considered a "signature plant" in that the appearance of its stem resembles the poisonous jararaca snake (also called jergon sacha in the Amazon), with one of its primary, traditional uses as an anti-venin and herbal antidote for snake bites.
It is concurrently used for a variety of infectious bites and as a vulnerary (wound healer) including sting rays, spiders, venomous and biting insects, incidents of poisoning, and for virulent skin diseases such as scabies (skin mites), skin sores and mange.
As a chelating and detoxifying plant for infectious or poisonous bites, JERGON SACHA may also have significant value as a detoxifier for inorganic compounds, synthetic derivatives, environmental toxins and foreign pathogens and allergens.
JERGON SACHA has been studied for its potential value as an immune builder, specifically as an immune stimulant, in that it may help upregulate immune response, when immunity has been compromised or suppressed. An immune stimulant has a remarkable capacity for being able to rally the immune system without tapping body reserves, which is invaluable when immune balance has been lost.
Another remarkable plant action of JERGON SACHA is related to its potential protease inhibitor actions against viruses. Protease enzymes help digest proteins and are omnipresent in every cell of every living organism. Protease inhibitors work to help disable enzyme mechanisms of the invading virus that are used to replicate and kill healthy cells. If a foreign viral pathogen enters the body, protease inhibitors signal an attack on the virus to help neutralize its damage, ostensibly halting its destructive mechanism.
Another area of traditional, Peruvian herbal, medical use is related to the conditional needs of upper respiratory disorders and infections related to kennel cough, bronchitis, influenza, parvovirus, and asthma.
