Mutations (Cells)

Herbal treatments to help address symtpoms of cell mutation and growths in dogs and cats including tumors, lumps and fatty lipomas.

Nutrition plays a major role in skin health. Healthy skin is a result of a well-functioning, synchronized effort by tissues and organs in the body. Skin health requires nutrients that help to support proper liver, adrenal, immune, and intestinal function and maintain the skin's ability to withstand the effects of environmental exposure to toxins, antigens, and microorganisms.

Tumors are abnormal growths or mutations of body tissue and they can either be classified as cancerous (malignant) or non-cancerous (benign). Cancerous tumors can spread at a rapid rate and can metastasize to other areas of the body. Common malignant tumors in pets include mammary gland tumors, mast cell tumors, oral tumors, malignant melanoma and fibrosarcoma.

Benign tumors are typically less serious as they generally stay in once place and do not have the ability to metastasize to other areas of the body, however, benign fatty sabecous tumors can present in several areas of the animal body. Some benign tumors can grow to mammoth proportions and when they are left untreated can eventually cause serious complications.

While learning that your pet has a malignant tumor can be devastating, the good news is that with early detection and prompt treatment, even some of the more serious tumors may be addressed successfully.

One of the most common tumors experienced by dogs and cats, as well as seen in vet offices, is a lipoma, which is a benign soft tissue tumor composed of fatty tissue. Lipomas are usually found under the skin, are painless and in many cases completely harmless to your pet. Lipomas can push out to the surface, and can be visible.

Tumors occur when there is a problem with the way in which cells of the body divide. Cell division is a strictly controlled process, with new cells being created to replace old cells, and damaged cells, dying so that they can be replaced. When this balance is disturbed, a tumor can develop.

While a clear cause of a tumor is not always know, there are a few known contributing factors, including a lowered immune system, obesity, genetic problems, and excessive exposure to sunlight. Poor diet, environmental toxicity and exposure to toxins such as cigarette smoke have also been known to cause tumors.

Herbal Remedies:

Herbal treatments are used to boost immunity and address inflammation of skin tissues and structures in the body, to treat and reduce tumor growth, to cleanse the system and support healthy cells in the body, to support the body’s own natural restorative functions while having a tonic effect on the skin, bones, muscles and connective tissue, to promote healthy cellular response, to promote the healing of wounds, treating pain and injuries as well as chronic skin conditions.

Get Well Soon  (learn more) is used holistically as an immune booster, an adjunctive cytotoxic therapy for cancer cells and as a complementary therapy in anti-cancer protocols due to its active content of Annonaceous acetogenins, for its studied anti-tumorous natural plant chemicals (slows growth), and potential anti-cancerous activity (inhibits anaerobic cells while protecting healthy cells); antioxidants help promote healthy cell and cell membrane support; helps promotes connective tissue, skin and coat support and antioxidant protection against free radicals, which is important in disease prevention; helps standardize normal cell operation; encourages free radical scavenging of cysts, tumors and lipomas; as a broad-spectrum internal and external antimicrobial, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties against infection, as an adjunctive for cysts and tumors related to fibrous, fatty, sebaceous tumors including cutaneous mast cell tumors (mastocytomas, mast cell tumors, sarcomas), lipomas, histiocytomas, adenomas hyperplasia and papillomas. Also used adjunctively and holistically for the following types of tumors: hind quarter, deep tissue, lesions, polyps, warts, basal and mast cell, bone, brain, heart, liver, kidney, bladder, mammary, skin, stomach, eye, ear, nose, mouth and leg tumors.

Conventional Remedies:

Whatever the suspected cause, all growths, lumps or bumps found on your pet should be taken seriously and should be examined by a vet.  Your veterinarian will perform a physical examination of the suspected tissue.

A biopsy may be taken to determine if the growth is cancerous, which may be either a simple needle biopsy, or by having the tumor removed and biopsied post-operatively. Once a definite diagnosis has been made, your veterinarian can advise what treatment options would best suit your pet.

The treatment of tumors depends entirely on the type of tumor and the severity. Small benign tumors such as lipomas that are not growing and are not causing your pet any discomfort may simply be monitored regularly, while other tumors require swift surgical removal and possibly further treatments if the tumor was cancerous.

Surgery – Many tumors whether malignant or benign require surgical removal either to prevent any cancerous cells from spreading to other areas of the body or in the case of benign tumors, to prevent excessive growth and damage to surrounding tissue.

Chemotherapy – If the tumor is found to be malignant then chemotherapy may be recommended. This type of treatment involves administering doses of certain chemicals that are highly toxic to fast developing cells thereby killing off cancer cells in the body.

Radiation – Also used when dealing with cancerous tumors, radiation therapy works by killing cancer cells and shrinking the tumor. Radiation therapy works by destroying cells in the area being treated by damaging their DNA or genetic material thus making it impossible for these cells to grow and divide.

Your vet may also make nutritional recommendations to address the growth.
